Empower Adds Cityland Mall to Its Frontline Projects with Investment
Emirates Central Cooling Systems Corporation (Empower), the world’s largest district cooling services provider, has signed an agreement with Cityland Real Estate Development to provide 14,000 Refrigeration Tonnes (RT) of district cooling for Cityland Mall. The project represents a significant AED 150 million investment in energy-efficient infrastructure.
The agreement was formalized at Cityland Mall’s site office by H. H. Sheikh Theyab Bin Tahnoon Al Nahyan, Chairman of Cityland Group, and Mr. Ahmad Bin Shafar, CEO of Empower. The project is expected to begin commissioning in August 2018 and will support Dubai’s sustainability objectives through efficient cooling technology.
Sheikh Theyab stated, “This significant agreement with Empower will drive environmental as well as economical returns while making a major impact on Cityland Mall. As the world’s first nature-inspired shopping destination, its unique development will ensure sustainability while being a key attraction.”
Mr. Bin Shafar expressed Empower’s commitment to sustainable progress: “We are proud to be the first choice for major real estate developers. Cityland Mall, located beside Global Village, will include over 350 retail outlets, unique F&B concepts, entertainment zones, and the 200,000 sq. ft. Central Park — a botanical garden forming the core of the one-level circular mall. It is the only mega shopping destination to be launched in 2018, drawing both residents and tourists alike.
Empower currently serves 1,000 buildings including hospitals, malls, universities, and residences, and operates 1.34 million RT across Dubai. Their cooling systems support iconic developments such as DIFC, Business Bay, Dubai Healthcare City, JBR, Palm Jumeirah, and Dubai Design District.
